The Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society, with funding support from the provincial Community Tourism Opportunities program via the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association, is proud to announce the completion of the 'Creative Hands' mural by Davis Arts (Dwayne Davis and Steven Gosling-Davis) on the North and East outer concrete walls of the Central Cariboo Arts Centre at 90 Fourth Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC.
The Community Tourism Opportunities grant was submitted on behalf of the Society by the Cariboo Regional District and the mural was approved by Williams Lake City Council. Dwayne’s original artwork, titled 'Creative Hands', is a mixture of abstract and real.
“With many endeavors of the mind, an idea is born into existence via the hands. The central figure is a concept coming to life between two crafting hands. The cowboy portrays a melding of culture, self-reflection, and individuality. While the hands sculpting wood and wielding a paintbrush are representations of our need to create from the natural world. Nature is the inspiration of our infinite imagination realized through our hands.”
