Williams Lake, BC - The Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society, with funding support from the provincial Community Tourism Opportunities program and the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association, is pleased to announce the acceptance of a proposed mural by Davis Arts (Dwayne Davis) to be created on the Borland Street side outer concrete wall of the Central Cariboo Arts Centre at 90 Fourth Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC. The Community Tourism Opportunities grant was submitted on behalf of the Society by the Cariboo Regional District and the mural has been approved by Williams Lake City Council.
Dwayne’s winning concept, titled Creative Hands, “is an exploration of the incongruity of painting that delves into the connectedness of the real and the abstract by creating a visual conversation between line, colour and texture. Using a mixture of styles, I can show nature’s beauty and what man can add. With our hands we work hard, nurture, and invent to make the most beautiful natural landscape in the world our home. With my own hands, I am simply representing that result.”
Preparations begin tomorrow, with the project to be completed no later than October 31, 2011.
We welcome your feedback and comments on the progress of the project via a guest book located in the Central Cariboo Arts Centre.
